February 23, 2017The Board of Education is now accepting nominations for the 2017 PRIDE Awards. The PRIDE Awards were created by the District 200 Board in 1990 to honor outstanding graduating seniors. The word, “PRIDE” is an acronym that stands for “Positive Recognition in District 200 Education.”
February 16, 2017Congratulations to the Back Street Birds, a team of students from the Northwood Middle School Challenge Corps program whose research about the problem of birds colliding with commercial airlines has been published in the Spring 2017 edition of the World Ecology Report. Published since 1989, the World Ecology Report is a quarterly digest of critical issues in health and environment, produced in six languages and distributed to thousands of citizens throughout the developing and developed world.

January 20, 2017Congratulations to the Northwood Middle School Back Street Birds! The ten-member team of students from the Northwood Challenge Corps program earned several top awards at the annual Illinois FIRST LEGO League Northern State Championship. Sixty-four teams advanced from more than 30 qualifying tournaments to participate in the event which was held at Elgin Community College on January 14.
January 11, 2017Since October 2016, District 200 has gone through a process to review our facilities. This group is comprised of community members, administration, and staff, who have been engaged in a process of reviewing the current state of District 200 facilities along with examining future needs for facility utilization.
December 8, 2016Registration for Heart and Soul, the middle school program from Girls on the Run, begins at 10:00 a.m. on January 10, 2017 through February 15, 2017 at www.gotrnwil.org. The Heart and Soul program creates a positive, structured space where girls can learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy, strengthen connections and develop life skills. Teams of girls will meet Tuesdays and Thrsdays after school from 3:45 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. beginning the week of March 6th through May 21st. Registration information can also be picked up in the Northwood office or from one of the Northwood coaches, Mrs. Braun, Ms. Canto, Ms. Harries or Mrs. Hurckes. October 17, 2016Northwood students in the Rachel's Challenge group worked hard to earn the funds to sponsor a very special program, and they weren't disappointed when the day finally arrived to see the fruit of their labor. JLine Dance Crew performed for the entire school at a special assembly on October 17. JLine is a troupe from New York City whose message focuses on making good choices, self-esteem and cultivating a positive atmosphere for everyone at school, and in the community.
