Illinois State Standardized Testing

Over the course of the next several weeks, District 200 students in grades 3-11 will be taking state mandated assessments.  Attached are letters that provide information about the testing schedule as well as tips on how parents can help their children come prepared on testing days.

Important 8th Grade Dates

On Friday, May 15th, the 8th grade dance will be held at Northwood Middle School.  The 8th grade promotion will be held on Friday, May 22nd at Woodstock North High School.  More details will follow.

FVC Wrestling T-Shirt Order Form

March 10th and March 11th is the Fox Valley Conference Wrestling Tournament Parkland Middle School.  T-Shirts are available for this event - order forms are due no later than February 27th.  Please click on READ MORE and then click on the ORDER FORM link to place your order.  Order forms and money can be returned to the NWMS office.

New Family App Provides Parents with Easy Access to Information

We are pleased to announce the availability of a new school communications app for smartphone or tablet. The Family App is an extension of the eSchoolPLUS Home Access Center currently available for parents of middle and high school students. The eSchoolPLUS Family App, available to all parents, will provide attendance and fee payment information, as well as the ability to email teachers from a phone. Middle and High School parents will also have access to information about student assignments and course grades. (This feature is currently being developed for use at the elementary level.)

Illinois 5Essentials Survey

This year the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered to students in grades 6-12. The survey is designed by the University of Chicago and is being used by the Illinois State Board of Education as part of the state’s school accountability process. The survey gathers information about the school’s learning environment from the perspective of the teacher and student.

SHAPE Woodstock Event Rescheduled for April 9th

We are happy to announce that the SHAPE Woodstock workshop with Paul Zientarski has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 9th. Inclement weather on January 8th forced the cancellation of our original program, and we are grateful that Mr. Zientarski is able to reschedule with us for April.  Zientarski is the  founder of the Learning Readiness Program for Naperville School District 203.  He will discuss how he and other educators have made a difference in the lives of students through exercise.

Challenge Corps Championship Tournament

The 2014 Challenge Corps Championship Tournament will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Building J, Elgin, Illinois.  Judging will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the opening cermonies taking place at noon.  Performances run all afternoon, wich closing ceremonies taking place at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Winter Safety Reminder for All D200 Families

As professionals dedicated to safely transporting children, the care and protection of our students is always on the minds of the D200 Transportation staff.   As winter approaches (bringing with it winter driving conditions), the Transportation Department would like to remind all D200 families of some important safety guidelines.

Reporting Student Absences

When your child is absent, please call the attendance line at 815-337-8618 before 8:30 a.m. on the day of the absence.  You will need to report all symptoms your child is experiencing, including the degree of the fever.  If we have not received an attendance call regarding your child by third period, you will receive the automated call stating your child is unexcused and the message will ask you to call the attendance line to report the absence.  The office will not be able to request homework from teachers until your child has been absent for three consecutive days.
