8th Grade Dance Raffle Tickets

The end of the year is coming and the 8th graders are getting excited for their graduation dance!  The 8th grade class is busy selling raffle tickets to raise funds for their dance - there are a TON of awesome prizes!  Raffle tickets are $2 each and can be purchased from any 8th grade student or in the Northwood office.  Tickets will be on sale through Friday, April 21st.  Please click READ MORE to see a list of all the cool prizes, as well as a copy of the raffle tickets to print for your use!

Last Day of School is May 26

When the 2016-17 District 200 calendar was released, it listed the tentative last day of school as May 25, depending upon use of emergency days.  Because the district did use one severe weather day this year, the calendar has been amended to reflect the following:

NWMS Student Research Published in International Journal

Congratulations to the Back Street Birds, a team of students from the Northwood Middle School Challenge Corps program whose research about the problem of birds colliding with commercial airlines has been published in the Spring 2017 edition of the World Ecology Report.  Published since 1989, the World Ecology Report is a quarterly digest of critical issues in health and environment, produced in six languages and distributed to thousands of citizens throughout the developing and developed world.

Heart and Soul Starting at Northwood Middle School

Registration for Heart and Soul, the middle school program from Girls on the Run, begins at 10:00 a.m. on January 10, 2017 through February 15, 2017 at www.gotrnwil.org.  The Heart and Soul program creates a positive, structured space where girls can learn about themselves, explore new ideas, cultivate empathy, strengthen connections and develop life skills.  Teams of girls will meet Tuesdays and Thrsdays after school from 3:45 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. beginning the week of March 6th through May 21st.  Registration information can also be picked up in the Northwood office or from one of the Northwood coaches, Mrs. Braun, Ms. Canto, Ms. Harries or Mrs. Hurckes.  For more information, please contact the Northwood site coordinator, Heidi Nieman, at hnieman@wcusd200.org.
